5 Questions To Ask Before Move-In

By September 14, 2016June 19th, 2019No Comments

Renting an AHI corporate apartment is pretty easy. Our team is very knowledgeable of the industry and they make the process a breeze. But when you’re traveling or moving, you sometimes forget to ask the important questions up front. That’s okay! We’ll always have your back with the details but it is nice to have your ducks in a row during a move. So to help you get started, we made a list of 6 important questions to ask your AHI representative.

IS THERE A STATE LODGING TAX?

You didn’t think there was a simple answer for this one did you?? Because, it can get a tiny bit complicated. Every state is different. Some sate lodging tax only applies to hotels and not corporate housing. For example, in Alabama there is a 0.4% lodging tax for hotels but 0.0% for corporate housing. In Tennessee, the tax could be anywhere from 3%-6% depending on the area. Metro Nashville tends to be on the higher end of that range. All the more reason to ask your representative specifically and they’ll be happy to let you know.

IS THERE A PET FEE?

Yes, there is a $350 non-refundable pet fee. There are also some weight and breed restrictions. Your AHI rep will gladly explain the specifics. Just be aware that weight and breed are a factor in the application process.

AHI is very pet friendly!

WHAT ALL IS INCLUDED?

You hear “fully furnished” and think all the furniture is included, right? Well that’s correct but we offer much more than just the furniture. An AHI corporate apartment includes the following:

  • All utilities such as; power, gas, water, cable, phone and WiFi/Internet.
  • Fully appointed kitchen (Cookware, utensils, etc.)
  • Washer/ Dryer
  • Linens (Bedroom and bathroom)

Those are the basics but for a complete list of amenities, you can visit https://ahicorporatehousing.com/amenities/.

DO YOU REQUIRE A NOTICE TO VACATE?

Yes, AHI requires a 14-30 day notice to vacate based on the terms of your lease. A written notice must be submitted to us. That written notice can be given at any point during your stay. It does not have to be at the end of the month or any other specific time frame. It just has to be sent to your AHI rep at ANY point during your stay.

Did I mention there’s no time frame to which a notice to vacate can be submitted? Think about it like this. As soon as you know you’ll need to move out, let us know. Done!

WHAT SCHOOL DISTRICT IS MY APARTMENT IN?

You’d be surprised at how many people forget to ask this question. It doesn’t matter to some parents and does to others. However, it is something that’s important to ask your AHI rep prior to signing a lease agreement. They have knowledge of the area and if the school district is important to you, they’ll be able to direct you towards the best one. Or at least give you the names of schools in your area of interest and let you decide for yourself. Either way, you usually have options and it’s just best to know what they are.

I hope this helps you get started! Now that you have your list ready please don’t hesitate to call us and speak with one of our friendly reps. You’re one step closer to finding the best corporate apartment in your area!
